I just published my first Recipes for the Ricoh GR IV! The Starter Collection is the largest Recipe Collection that I’ve published, with seven Recipes, plus one bonus Recipe available in the Ricoh Recipes App (available for both Apple and Android) to Patron subscribers. This is just the beginning—I’m already in the process of developing the next Collection, which should be published in a few months. Ideally, I would like to have more out right now, but I wanted to get something to you right away, so I hope you don’t mind that it’s just these seven for now (eight for App Patrons).
I’m sorry that it took so long to get these published. It’s been an odd experience, with a lot of delays, technical difficulties, and dead-end rabbit holes. My apologies to you for how long this took. I can understand how frustrating it must have been to have to wait all this time for some Recipes for your GR IV camera. Thankfully, the wait is over.
Most GR III Recipes technically will work on the GR IV, but they render differently. How divergent they look depends on the specific Image Control Effect and specific settings of the Recipe, and sometimes even the specific light conditions. None look exactly the same. Feel free to use them, though, and just accept that the results are a little off. I spent a few months trying to figure out how to make them match, but that was one of those dead-end rabbit holes. For some Recipes—namely some black-and-white—there are settings differences (like Filter Effect) that will make them less intuitive to use, but it’s still possible. And, of course, the GR IV has some options that the GR III doesn’t.
Another note is that I do not have any Recipes for the GR IV Monochrome. I don’t own that camera. If someday I’m able to get one, I’ll be sure to make Recipes for it; however, at this time I don’t foresee that happening in the near future. I would love to own a GR IV Monochrome someday.
